Psyche (Ψυχή) is derived from the Greek verb psycho (Ψύχω), which means to breathe, blow or cool. Psyche, as both a concept and mythological figure, has an extensive lineage throughout antiquity. It was originally understood to be an animating life force or divine exhalation that marks the relationship between the mortal and the immortal. It has come to be commonly known as the soul or the breath of life.
As helping professionals, who work with the psyches of others all day, the Psyche Retreat invites you back to your own. This reconnection might be particularly apt for helping professionals, whose energies and gaze are often directed towards the wounds of others. The Psyche Retreat embraces and welcomes those tendencies, yet hopes to co-create an experience of greater wholeness in your self-expression born from unleashing your more dormant soulful creative and generative energies.
The 7-Day/6-Night Psyche Retreat will feature:
1 night private room in Amsterdam (Conscious Hotel Westerpark)
Transportation to and from Amsterdam city center and retreat venue
5 nights private or shared accommodation in Haarlo (Erve Veldink)
All meals in Haarlo
2 Legal psilocybin journeys

3 Individual one-on-one preparation/integration sessions with a facilitator

In addition to our signature 5-day retreat, we are thrilled to be joined by some very special guests to enhance your experience.

Rachel Blackman
Rachel Blackman is a somatic coach, trainer, ritualist, and Feldenkrais practitioner, as well as an educator and theatre maker. She trains coaches in embodied intelligence through The Somatic School and her own animist modality, Integrative Somatic Feedback. Her work is grounded in creativity, biological intelligence, and supporting sustainable change through neuroplasticity.
An animist at heart, Rachel creates spaces that weave together the sacred, the embodied, and our relationship with the living world. She works one-to-one and with groups, offering somatic coaching, earth-honouring ritual, and creative practice. She is an ICF-accredited coach, an FGUK-registered Feldenkrais practitioner, and has over two decades of experience supporting people to integrate profound and numinous experiences into everyday embodied life.
Alongside her therapeutic work, Rachel is an award-winning theatre maker and has written and created five original full-length plays. She also appeared as Charra in The Matrix Revolutions.
Rachel has European, Scandinavian, Scottish, and English ancestry, with more recent family roots in Australia, where her relatives now live largely on the unceded lands of the Bundjalung and Yugambeh Nations. She is currently based in Brighton, UK, where she lives by the sea with her husband Shad and her bonus son Akash.
Rachel stands in deep gratitude to her many teachers, including ancestral lineages, Indigenous elders, somatic and therapeutic mentors, ritual and theatre traditions, and the medicines of land, water, stone, and song.

Juergen Groezinger (Jueri)
A classically trained multipercussionist, composer, and certified sound therapist, Jueri brings decades of experience to creating immersive sound journeys that bridge deep listening, meditation, and live performance. Drawing on both contemporary classical music and ritual sound work, his sessions invite participants into a subtle dialogue between sound, body, and awareness.
Working with gongs, shamanic drums such as djembe, frame drum, and krin, Himalayan singing bowls, bells, water percussion, and elemental sounds, Jueri weaves rich, textured soundscapes that gently guide attention inward. The layered vibrations of metal, wood, stone, and water create a field that supports presence, release, and inner transformation.
Throughout the five days of the retreat, we are accompanied by live music from Juergen Groezinger on percussion. He will facilitate a sound bath following the opening-night cacao ceremony, DJ a music and movement session on our third evening, and play live during both psilocybin journeys. During the journeys, his music responds in real time to the collective emotional field in the room, offering a sensitive and attuned sonic container that supports the unfolding process.

Celina Bedbur
Celina, is based in Cologne. Her own psychedelic journey began several years ago, first alone, then with the compassionate guidance of Susanna. Through this, she came to deeply appreciate the healing power of this work, which makes her all the more grateful to now contribute herself.
As a wilderness educator, cycle mentor, and nutritionist, Celina supports people in reconnecting with themselves, with nature, and with forgotten wisdom. She also brings her passion for food, foraging, and cooking into the retreat, caring for the group in the kitchen with love and mindfulness helping you to nourish the body, heart, and soul throughout the process.
A bit more
The Psyche Retreat will start with a night in Amsterdam to connect with your fellow journeyers and then will move to a cozy Dutch farmhouse, Erve Veldink, in Haarlo (about 2 hours east of Amsterdam) that has a history dating back to the 14th century. The current buildings are 120 years old and are protected as a historical monument. Erve is surrounded by fertile soil that supports the growth of fields of sunflowers, grazing for cows, chickens and even a few peacocks and is ideal for walks and stargazing.
We hope this retreat will also invite you into a new relationship with being in a group, which is often a source of energetic drain and scarcity of resources for those in the helping professions. What we might not have received in our family of origin or current working conditions, we hope to cultivate together, through the healing power of communitas, or a collective sense of togetherness and shared humanity, that researchers are finding is vital to the transformative power of group retreats (Kettner et al., 2021).
Once we are in Haarlo at Erve, all room accommodations will be shared in a summer camp-like cabin sleeping arrangement. We hope this invitation sparks curiosity to reimagine your experience being in community with others alongside a re-emerging ability to express your needs, ease in setting good boundaries, and joyousness in connection.
In addition to our two legal psilocybin journeys, Rachel Blackman, our special guest and a somatic experiencing coach, will be supporting your cultivation of inner resourcing and psyche connection during our two full integration days onsite together.
Private Retreats
Just like in our group retreats, your safety and wellbeing come first. With experienced facilitators by your side, you’ll receive plenty of personal attention and space to move at your own pace. A private retreat can be a gentle, powerful way to go deeper, with the support that’s fully focused on you.
Pricing will depend on the number of private retreat participants, lodging and travel costs for our facilitators.
Our Approach
We understand that larger groups do not meet everyone’s needs. Depending on the issue you are working on and your own experience getting your needs met in a group, it might be important to explore setting up an individual or small group private retreat with the Ikaros Project team. We would be happy to initiate this process with you by scheduling an introductory call to assess your needs and goals, and the logistics of a private retreat.
Our private retreats give you (or a small group of friends or partners) the chance to design a retreat that matches your priorities. Maybe you want more privacy, a flexible schedule, or a location that feels just right for you here in the Netherlands. Together, we’ll curate the setting that works best.
Integration coaching
Our Approach
Our integration coaching extends the support you receive during retreat, helping you carry insights into daily life. Integration means taking what arises in expanded states of consciousness and translating it into positive habits you can sustain in your daily life.
Psychedelics are not a cure-all, but they can open windows of insight and new neural pathways. With intention and guidance, these openings can lead to real transformation; without them, the mind often slips back into old patterns.
Through practices like setting intentions and honoring the process on personal, ceremonial, and collective levels, we create a container for meaningful change. Integration is not a one-time event but an ongoing practice of renewal. A way to reimagine life, and ground vision into reality.
Susanna
Susanna guides clients through psychedelic integration with empathy, humor, and a deep respect for each person’s unique path. With over 35 years of personal experience with psychedelics and more than a decade supporting individuals in altered states, she brings both wisdom and grounded insight to her work. Trained as a master coach, body-oriented coach, and yoga teacher, Susanna helps clients turn profound experiences into meaningful, lasting change. Her approach weaves embodiment, relational presence, and the meeting point of science and lived wisdom, anchoring expanded states into everyday practices of connection, healing, and growth.
Courtney
Courtney brings over 25 years of experience as a clinical psychologist, family therapist and consultant for organizational change to her work in psychedelic integration coaching. Rooted in attachment-focused, trauma-informed, and relationship-based approaches, she creates a compassionate space where clients can safely explore and make sense of their experiences. Informed by her training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), she helps clients transform fragmented or unspoken experiences into coherence, connection, and resilience. With warmth and expertise, Courtney supports people in weaving the insights of their journeys into lasting personal and relational transformation.
